Biography
Josh Klein's music has overtones of The Beatles, Hendrix, Wes Montgomery and The Roots....as well as so much more. Yes, he will baffle you with his array of effects and sonic toys, but he can also sing with soul and play multiple instruments, usually at the same time. His songs range from folky to funky to punky, and lyrically Josh is unafraid to bear his soul, or just sing about playing Mario Kart.
For several years Josh attended DePaul University in Chicago, and then graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston. He studied jazz with Bob Lark, Bob Palmieri, and Peter Ballin and classical composition and music history with Mark Maxwell and George Flynn. He also took guitar lessons from legendary musicians such as Mick Goodrick, Dave Tronzo, Dave Fiuczynski, Jim Kelly and many others. Throughout his college years Josh began to teach students of all ages in his private studio. Klein has also taught through Guitar Center, The Lesson Center, Siman Music Camps, Merry Melody Music Academy in Norwood MA, Day Jams summer rock and roll camps, and now is at The Community Music School of Allentown.
Formerly founder of the musician's collective Josh Klein & Friends, Josh collected nearly 6 full albums of entirely improvised music, and provided live entertainment for many nights in small clubs around Boston with that group. Much of this music is available here for FREE!
Nowadays Josh enjoys being a soloist, as well as performing with others. Performing on up to three instruments at once, he seems to not need a band to perform lively rock n roll music. You can find him performing in various clubs in the Lehigh Valley area and beyond, drawing from classic popular music and his own original repertoire. He also acts as back-up band for other local musicians. Check the tour dates section for more information.
